5 cool desserts for hot summer days

Last night I was seized with the urge to make ice cream. The result was the most delicious homemade boysenberry ice cream I've ever had. (Thank you, Alice Waters, for clearly explaining how to make a cooked custard base.)

I have an ice cream maker that I've never used. I'm thinking it's time!

Courtney: it's so easy. I made a rather complicated recipe, but it CAN be as easy as throwing stuff in the machine and letting it go. For example: my homemade coconut ice cream!

I'm the type who'd rather just buy ice cream from the store, but if the instructions are this easy maybe I'll get around to making them myself.

Thanks for the reminder to put the freezer insert thingy into the freezer! Love our Cuisinart ice cream maker!
