Last night I made carrot soup, and, like always, I pureed it with my hand blender. I've been using that thing for over 15 years, and I love it every time.

A hand/immersion blender is a great gift for anyone who likes to cook or who makes a lot of baby food. (A reviewer even said it makes good smooties with ice. I'm going to have to try that.)

This Cuisinart model has several improvements compared to mine...most notably the detachable stainless steel shaft you can wash more easily. Plus, it comes in all sorts of pretty colors.

I've fallen into that trap before, Calvin! This time I checked the Cuisinart site (plus a bunch of competitors), and I must have gotten the wrong model because the price was higher than that. Thank you...I will dig a little deeper next time.

I have been looking for a good hand blender for awhile now, and keep putting off the purchase. Thank you for the review. I'll have to try this one! I have a Vitamix which I make soups in from time to time, but sometimes, I just need a quick one person portion. This should work very well for those quick puree needs.
