Beef up airplane seat belts for your toddler: CARES Child Aviation Restraint System
Speaking of toddlers and airplanes, Debbie of the fantastic family travel site Delicious Baby is hosting an excellent giveaway: a CARES Child Aviation Restraint System. I've read about this product for years, noting the obvious need something like this, and the generally good reviews.

A reader wrote in a couple of years ago asking for Parenthackers' personal experiences with the CARES harness (this was before it was available on Amazon, so there were no easily-accessible user reviews). As usual, the responses were fascinating and extremely helpful.

I have used this product. It is COMPLETELY AWESOME. It basically does what a full sized car seat does, but without the extra weight and bulk. Seriously, you can tuck it in your diaper bag. We left the car seats behind, and simply rented ones from the rental car company at our destination.
I believe the higher price may be because this restraint is the only harness that has actual FAA approval. But the best part for me? My child was sitting far enough back in his seat that he couldn't kick the seat in front of him. Hallelujah.

I've had one for ages and love it. It's especially good for squirmy toddlers who need a little help staying put.
The biggest problem: remembering to take it off the plane with you. Oops.
