Baking soda paste as no-tear shampoo
A gentle hair-washing hack from Kate:
If you are afraid of shampoo in the eyes, or have sensitive skin, try a baking soda paste to wash hair. Seriously. No suds, safe to ingest, leaves hair squeaky clean. Follow with conditioner. Cheap, too!
Is baking soda magical or what? You can use the stuff to brush your teeth, wash your hair, then clean the bathroom!

My grandmother (in Serbia) used baking soda to wash my hair when I spent my summer vacations with her.
Another magic trick she had was washing my hair with saved rainwater. I used to believe as a child that hair looked most beautiful when washed with these two ingredients.
Thank you for reminding me of these long lost memories.
Best.

There is a line of natural baby products I love called Nature's Baby Organics. Great for sensitive skin and smells wonderful.

Baking Soda is great for the hair. I usually use it as a final rinse (after shampooing). Hadn't thought of it as a shampoo alone.
I love the way it makes my hair so light and fluffy. Thanks for the shampoo tip!

great tip thanks so much! Yes Rain water is supposed to be good for the skin too.. for example if you have a rash. I love rain water in my hair - its leaves it really lovely and bouncy.

Baking soda paste works amazing for deodorant and a toothpaste too!
After a few months of only baking soda (and good flossing), 2 of my cavities healed! my dentist last week was shocked at the improvement, he was sort of sad to send me away not needing to do any work on my teeth!
For the deodorant, mix about 3 parts soda to 1 part cornstarch to lessen any abrasion on the armpits. It works really well for odor and prevents clothes from yellowing, and any residue that gets on clothes just helps to clean them!
It is safe, effective, and saves $$

whats the procedure to make this soda wash for your own hair...
i have super long hair..and am use to the felling of the shampoo suds getting right in and giving the scalp a good clean...then conditioner I comb thru....I am so use to conditioner so I can then comb it thru to get out knots before the final rinse...i only wash my hair once a week.
I did go for 6 weeks when I was in hopstial once without washing my hair and the natural oils thing...i felt like i had nits if I got hot and sweaty.
how much water to baking soda..and do you wait for the fizzing to stop...
thanks

Baking soda is really a great invention. It's not only a good shampoo but did you know that baking soda is also an effective teeth whitening product? It cleans and whiten the teeth instantly. It's a good alternative to expensive teeth whitening procedures.
