Parent Hacks Weekend Catchup: highlights from the week of 2/21/11

KetchupBusy this last week? Just for you, a crib sheet covering the last seven days at Parent Hacks:

Quick glitter cleanup with a lint roller: I, too, am wondering why I never thought of this. Excited that Mikeala shared this hack on the Facebook page.

Tame tangles by "washing" hair with conditioner: Turns out shampoo isn't always necessary. Some say it never is. In the comments, we discuss whether expensive hair products are worth the money.

Parent Hacks honored in the Say100: Wonderful honor recognizing the "voice" of Parent Hacks...an honor for all of us.

Clean up spilled glitter with play dough: Another great idea for dealing with glitter mess! Plus a recipe for homemade play dough, and even better recipes in the comments.

Roasted curried cauliflower: effortless and shockingly delicious: In which I argue that everyone should buy cauliflower and roast it NOW. Lots of variations and suggestions in the comments that are making me salivate as I type this.

Keep hair clips organized in magnetic spice canisters: Another brilliant suggestion for keeping all the barrettes and hair bands contained and visible.

Twitter and Facebook highlights:

No SpongeBob! Extremely funny conversation on Twitter which started with my lamenting the presence of screamy, whiny SpongeBob Squarepants on Netflix Streaming (and the fact that my kids have discovered this). Next came the outpouring of TV Characters That Make Parenthackers Want To Kill Someone. Top culprits include Dora, Caillou (ooooh, much bad mojo), the Wonder Pets, and Yo Gabba Gabba. Fireman Sam took his lumps, too. Characters folks like: Olivia, WordWorld, and Little Bill.

Also on Twitter, @cande_pop asked: "has anyone ever come across a way to get the black gunk out of squirty baby bath toys?" The black stuff is MOLD! The answers came back to either rinse with bleach solution (1 part bleach, 3 parts hot water), vinegar, or toss the buggers. On Faceback, there was almost unanimous consensus to TOSS.
