Mitten clips cinch too-loose waistbands

via collectinghats.blogspot.com

Yonit was inspired by a product she spied at Amazon -- the Smartie Pants adjustable cinch belt -- to repurpose an old set of mitten clips! No more skirts falling down. Brilliant. Thanks for sharing, Yonit!

I dare say, that mitten clip looks a lot like the clips I use to keep my son's fitted sheets tight on his bed...I believe they were $2.99 for 4 pieces at Home Outfitters... I never thought of using them this way but I love it! Can't wait to try it with all of his too-big-in-the-waist pants!

I do something similar to allow my not-quite-walking daughter to wear dresses. I either clip the dress front to back between her legs, or gather the excess fabric with a clip behind her back. Now I will keep them around even after she starts walking.

And for those who have picky, self-conscious kids, you can always put these on the inside of the clothes. I know my son would never allow someone to see his-but he's almost 8.

In a pinch, you can always use safety pins and a piece of elastic.

I've been looking for mitten clips for a couple years now with no luck. (Well, my mom's been looking in the U.S. for me. They don't have them where I live.) But we haven't seen any! Any sightings or suggestions are appreciated.

I had to pop on to Parent Hacks and see if I was being creative or if I was just remembering something I'd read here! My 16-month-old is too tall for his 12-month size jeans but his new 18-month size ones have an elastic rather than adjustable waistband and were hanging too low. Mitten clip in the back, threaded through the rear belt loop and clipped to the ones flanking it, perfect fit. Brilliant.
