Amazon deal: 1 year of FamilyFun Magazine for $4.95
Update: Read the comment thread about how mag publishers sell your contact info for marketing purposes, and how you can easily opt out when you subscribe. Thank you, Amanda, for bringing up this important topic.
Amazon's at it again with the magazine promotion, and one of my favorites, Disney FamilyFun, is on the list. If you wish you were more crafty but are intimidated by most magazine projects, FamilyFun is for you. It's full of easy-but-classy crafts and clever-but-simple recipes anyone can pull off. I'm always surprised by just how much I get out of each issue. It's $9.95 for a 1-year subscription, but Amazon's giving an extra $5 off at checkout time bringing the cost down to $4.95.
Over 100 other magazines get an instant $5 discount including my exclusive airplane read, Oprah Magazine
, hacker-friendly ReadyMade
, and...there's something for everyone.

I love this magazine but was sincerely disappointed when they sold my info and I started getting a ton of telemarketing calls. Big bummer.

Amanda: Sigh. You're right...this is a terrible side effect of mag subscriptions. I just called the FamilyFun customer service folks about this, and, if you call them after they receive your subscription order, you can tell them you do NOT want your contact information sold, and they remove you from the list.
This is huge! I imagine it applies to every mag publisher. I'm so glad you pointed this out....I'm going to post it up front so everyone's aware. Thank you!

Aargh. After much internal debate, I just renewed my subscription for $9.95 last week!
Oh well. Maybe I'll order a subscription for my niece, since I always gave her my old copies to read.
