We needed a childproofing solution for our wireless router, which plugs in to the wall outlet and sticks out further than any store-bought outlet shields could cover. I took a plastic colander and screwed through the side flange handles, bending it just a bit to let the cord through the bottom opening without pinching it against the wall. Ta dah!
