sunscreen needs to be applied 30 minutes before sun exposure. poolside is not the place to apply sunscreen. the spray sunscreens usually do not go on thick enough. most people do not put on nearly enough. you need about a shot glass full to cover a small child. it is also important to cover the area around eyes. very sensitive skin.

I always use waterproof sunblock, you only have to reapply once every hour then.
