Song-playing cards teach babies to turn pages
Corey stumbled upon a simple way to help her baby learn the simple (wonderful) skill of turning pages:
For some reason, I never throw cards away. The other day, I came across one of those "open it up and it plays a song" cards. Well, our ten month-old caught on quick, and played with it (with supervision, of course) for a day or two. today I noticed he's got the hang of turning pages of his books a little better. I'd guess that the instant gratification of the song playing helped motivate him a bit.
That's one of the amazing things about watching a baby grow -- realizing that everything we do beyond the most basic bodily functions had to be learned.

Good hack. Board books also are helpful in this area. The most important thing is to get books into your kid's hands. Years ago, when my husband was president of the PTA, he was asked to help produce alphabet books for the first graders, as some of them had never been exposed to books (!!!!!) and didn't know how to turn the pages (!!!!!).
