Speed up Lego and other small toy cleaning with a broom and dustpan

Ann's "clean sweep" hack:

When the toys start getting too deep, I grab my plastic snow shovel to move it all into a pile to make it easier to go through.

This is the first time in many years of lurking on your blog that I've been inspired to comment, but this hack -- brilliant! Off to the dollar store to buy a dedicated lego broom and dust-pan. BRILLIANT!

We use a plastic garden Rake around our house. It's especially effective with all the toy cars and wooden blocks

Here's another idea: Put legos on a big blanket and have them only play with them on the blanket. When they're done, just pick up the blanket and pour the Legos into their container. Presto!
