Protect your coffee table-turned-play surface with a crib sheet

Candie's great tip for coffee table play:

I have found that the kids' favorite place to play is the family room coffee table. Usually I don’t like to allow this but I have found it is just the right height for them and makes a great craft table for all of our crafty projects. I have tried covering it with various things (i.e. blankets, sheets and paper) but it everything slides off. Finally I got the idea to use a crib sheet. It’s a great way to recycle those old crib sheets and it stays on perfectly! (Of course you’ll need a rectangular or oval table.)

Nice! We cover the main play area of our coffee table with a big sheet of drawing paper, affixed with that wondrous invention, blue painters' tape. No sliding around, and we can safely hang up the day's artwork on any vertical surface...

That's a great idea! We were just playing with play-doh on our coffee table (in the kitchen). It is the perfect height for little ones.
The crib sheet wouldn't work with play-doh, but painting and coloring for sure!

That's a great idea! I'm thinking the plastic sheets would be great for the messier stuff. I wish I would have thought of this before my table became permanently glittered though. :-/

We use a vinyl tablecloth, held on by those extra large binder clips attached to the slats between the legs. This only works on certain types of coffee tables though.
