Valentine hack: How to make heart-shaped cupcakes without a special pan

famf0200cupidcup_cupidcup.gifScarlett and KK both mentioned heart-shaped cupcakes as their favorite Valentine's treat. A little Googling brought me to FamilyFun.com (always a reliable source of easy kid fun), where I found directions on how to make these "cupid's cupcakes" without a fancy pan. The secret: a marble or an aluminum foil ball. Nice!

Then again, if you're pressed for time, there's always the trusty grocery store cupcake. Says Taryn:

Smooth the tops, add some sprinkles, put them on a pretty plate and send them to school!

Much less traditional, but I ran across this at craftzine today:

Perhaps for the anti-Valentine's Day teenage boy in your life?

I tried this hack yesterday and well my cupcakes looked more like horse hooves and instead of sprinkles I put four cinnamon hearts on it so it sorta looked like I was celebrating the Scott Tournament of Hearts (it's a curling tournament and I don't curl) Still they tasted good so while they weren't the prettiest cupcakes they were tasty...always a good thing

heh heh heh! Curling! What can I say. Any discussion of that sport always makes me giggle.

Yeah, I tried these before and well they didn't really look like the picture...maybe the key is putting less batter than usual...anyway, they still taste the same right! that is what matters!
