My wife discovered a great parenting hack: By this time of January, novelty desk calendars are deeply discounted - like, $2 each. Some of these are a great source of inexpensive kids' craft materials; for example, she got the origami-a-day calendar for a fraction of the cost of origami paper, and the sticker-a-day calendar for an even tinier fraction of the typical cost of stickers.
