Parent Hacks admin: Social bookmarking links
I've been waiting to add del.icio.us and StumbleUpon buttons to my site because I wanted to claim the honor of LAST BLOG TO ADD SOCIAL BOOKMARKING BUTTONS TO SITE. So did I win? Do I get a lifetime supply of milk of magnesia or a little trophy or something?
Just kidding. I didn't really do it for the glory. I did it for you (so you can more easily bookmark Parent Hacks posts at these sites) and for me (because when you do, other people also find out about all the crunchy goodness around here). I find del.icio.us indispensable (it's what powers my daily list of links) and I'm getting familiar with StumbleUpon. I've only Dugg once or twice. Do any of you use social bookmarking sites? Which ones?

The Family Channel at Propeller.com, is a great resource, or the do it yourself channel.

The only social bookmarking site I use is del.icio.us but it's been very useful to me. I use it to keep online recipes organized, keep a list of book I want to read or read to my girls, and things I find that I'd like to eventually buy. I'll pull from my list of links to make the holiday gift lists the grandmothers keep asking for :)

I don't even understand what social bookmarking sites are for. And you thought you were behind the times?

For my work site, http://www.beaconbroadside.com, I added one of those widgets that has about 20 different options in a pop-up window, plus I added the Sphere widget to find related content. I add links to Digg, Facebook, and StumbleUpon for all the posts on our site, and I've started a Gather.com account where I'm going to promote the blog as well.
Of course, how much traffic will really come out of all this remains to be seen.

You can use Onlywire. (http://www.onlywire.com/)
It's a big list of all of the social bookmarking sites. After you setup your account, you enter your username and password for all of the sites that you use (del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, etc.) and then when you bookmark a site, it adds the bookmarked site to all of the social bookmarking sites that you entered your username and password for. I think it would be a great way for you to promote your site.

For Alisa or anyone else who does not know what social bookmarking is or why you should use it check out this video from the folks over at Common Craft.

Delicious is a godsend. Hannah and I post all kinds of links there to keep them easily accessible. Glad to see you've added the button.
Best,
Michael

Also would recommend travelbookmarking for anything on travel topic. Not sure why I don't see that one around much?
Also love commoncraft - there homepage shows a video explaining delicious and social bookmarking for beginners which is a must.
