An 8-year old is shouting "I WANT" and banging on a car seat - and he becomes "flexible" when bribed with the prospect of peppermint candies?!?

I'm all for helping my child stretch her comfort zone and try new stuff. But a strongly expressed "I WANT" from my three year old is met with a raised eyebrow indicating that the proper term is "may I have". Subsequent "I WANTs" - especially if accompanied with a tantrum - are met with deaf ears.
