Carabiners! I'd meant to send this in a couple of months ago when we first did it. We'd gone through multiple sets of those clever but crappy "Str'l'r Swv'lz" or whatever those plastic hooks are called, and after the last time one snapped and sent my groceries rolling into the street, my husband went to REI and bought real mountaineering carabiners, the kind you can suspend a couple of SUVs from should you happen to need to do that.
We now have the world's toughest stroller hooks:
