Never run out of diapers again: Amazon Subscriptions
Michael uses Amazon Subscriptions to save money on diapers AND desperate last-minute trips to the store:
I’m relatively new to Parent Hacks (and parenting for that matter)… but we have started using Amazon Subscriptions for ordering wipes and diapers….we have found that the product is generally cheaper than the stores, plus there is a 15% discount with the subscription, and free shipping – delivered straight to your doorstep. Still working through the timing, but it works well for us so far…
And if you haven't already, check out Baby Cheapskate -- Angie's always on top of all the great deals!

Amazon subscription? This is my first time hearing of it. Thank you for the information. I should check it out.

We use this service to help us to better manage the limited storage in our house. Instead of stocking up at Costco on bulky items like Paper Towels and Toilet Paper, we use the Amazon subscriptions to have a "just in time" supply on hand.

We're using it for getting the 7th generation wipes we love that are otherwise pretty hard to come by at a reasonable price here. The only complaint I have about it, and have voiced this to amazon, is that they're sending us a case of wipes pre-packaged in a shipping container from 7th generation. One of them even had a freight hauler sticker identifying the destination of the pallat of goods, I assume all the same wipes. So this box is clearly shipping ready. But they insist on putting that box into a larger box, which seems to only accomplish two things: 1. advertising their logo on all sides, 2. including the pick list (instructions for their warehouse team on what to send me.) that is utterly useless to me. Oh and since the two boxes don't fit perfectly, it also includes a bunch of packing materials. All of that extra shipping overhead that goes directly into our recycling (or trash if it's the non-recyclable air bladders that our hauler won't take) as soon as I get it, just to ship me *eco-friendly* wipes! (and also baby and parent friendly, since they're chlorine free.)
Anyway, subscriptions is a nice idea... we're trying it out with the wipes, might put a few of the hbulky items we end up buying regularly at sam's on the list like laundry detergent, bleach, fabric softener, tp, etc onto it... hard part seems to be predicting how often to get it. I'm already thinking we're getting the wipes too often... 12 packages every month when we seem to be using 10. eventually I'm going to have an entire case when the next one arrives. :) That part doesn't exactly help with the storage issue I think they're trying to solve... all these things that we've just gone and grabbed when needed, now we have to predict "how often do we need how many?"

Wipes from Amazon.com? Whodathunkit? I love using Amazon for all kinds of shopping, but never thought of it for stuff like this. I agree that the double boxing seems wasteful if the manufacturer's shipping box is ready to go. But if the price is right, and if parents can recycle the packing material and boxes, it sure seems like a good option. Where was this when my kid was in diapers???

We use a similar service, for 7th Generation diapers, at diapers.com. Have been happy with them.

cabbey - not to mention all the shipping - that's oil, baby, right there. Not very eco-friendly at all!
