Cut the snaps off the shirts of potty training toddlers

Ellie said "I'm sure this is too simple to send in," but it most certainly is not. It never dawned on me while I was potty training my oldest...I struggled with snaps all the time. Duh.

I am potty training my two year-old and was having the hardest time finding shirts without crotch snaps for 24 months-2 years. So, my mom cut off the bottoms and sewed them at the lap. Voila! Shirts a-plenty. If you can't sew (or Grandma doesn't) you can use Stitch Witchery fusible web tape or something similar to iron a hem.

Can't find non-snapping shirts? Old Navy is good as is Target for finding good, relatively inexpensive toddler shirts. I've been finding lots of tees, polos, and rugbys for my now 19 month old since he was in 12 month sizes. I can't imagine putting him in onsie styles when we get to potty training. Waaay too much hassle.

Kohl's is a good source for inexpensive shirts without snaps, too We actually have the opposite problem. I can't find cute shirts that DO snap for my very long, very lean twins.

Right now is a good time of year to get t-shirts on sale. We just scooped up a bunch at our local Old Navy for 49¢ each!

Ummm I don't know where you've been shopping but I have always found TONS of non-onesie shirts at many different stores... Kohls, Target, The Children's Place, Old Navy, etc. etc. etc. And I've found them since my daughter was in size 12 mths, sometimes even smaller than that.

regarding comments above, I think it depends on what style you prefer, as often, the shirts I prefer are the ones with snaps. This is especially the case with what I am finding on consignment - almost none of the cute shirts on consignment are non-snap styles.

I have been planning on doing a little sewing as my son's daycare has repeated requested non-onsie style shirts.
