Scented lip balm as personal air freshener

Lip balmMarie's hack made me smile because both my kids are very sensitive to smells. We often choose restaurants based on our kids' first sniff once inside the door.

I read Parent Hacks almost daily but didn’t think I had anything to contribute until my friend commented on this one. We were in a Thai restaurant and my 3-year old’s sensitive nose was offended by the soup! So I pulled out my lip balm and put a heavy coat of it on her lips. I first came up with this solution when we were in a very smelly public bathroom. Usually I just have Burt’s Bees, but today I remembered my “back-up” lip balm (stashed in the bottom of a pocket in the diaper bag) that is of the very fragrant fruity variety. It worked even better than the Burt’s Bees!

I used this hack frequently while pregnant! I had severe morning sickness (twin pregnancy = double the sickness) and could barely go anywhere because of the smell.

Instead of putting the lip balm on my lips, I put a coating of it under my nose. Much more fragrant.

On really tough days, I used Vicks since I like that smell.

What a great idea! I'll certainly be using this one!!
