Hotel matchbooks help lost kids on multi-city trips
Margarita's simple but powerful travel hack:
A recent hack reminded me of something my dad used to do when we travelled. As kids we travelled a lot with them and often to several cities in one same trip. This made it very hard for us to remember which hotel we were staying at, so he always made sure we had a hotel card or a box of matches before we left the breakfast table.
I got lost at a subway station in Hong Kong when I was eleven. I must say my parents had a worse fright than me... I was only lost for a few minutes but having the hotel card in my pocket made me feel somewhat safe.

Great hack! I'm about to go on a trip, and I will use this one.

I haven't seen matchbooks given out in years! They still do that? Love the idea, but thinking may have to improvise to a different item

I've done something similar. I would get the business card from the hotel lobby desk and on the back write my cell phone number. With my camera (or cell phone) I then would take 2 pictures of them. One close up of the face and another to show the whole body to identify their clothing.
I also do this when I am in charge of my sons' friends or younger family members and we are spending the day at the amusement park.
