links for 2007-03-19
-
An Internet Safety coordinator for a school district put together this list of links -- I intend to do a little reading. My son just discovered YouTube (he's 7). More on that soon.
-
Newly relaunched -- this kids' search engine straddles the line between searching and browsing.
-
One mom's take on Graco strollers and one of my favorite products from my son's infancy, the Snap n' Go.

First, thank you so much for running this wonderful blog.
Second, there's a really good article about helping an older child adjust to a new baby over at wikihow that you might consider linking to: http://www.wikihow.com/Help-Your-Child-Accept-a-New-Baby

Honestly? A lot of the sites on that Internet Safety link above are pretty dated. (I spent 8 years working in the kids/internet industry.)
IMO, the best (and regularly updated!) Kids Internet Safety site on the Internet is www.netfamilynews.org, which also produces a weekly email newsletter and a blog at http://netfamilynews.blogspot.com/.
Another excellent resource (although not updated as frequently, and which I was involved with years ago) is GetNetWise. http://getnetwise.org/

Hi.
Thanks so much for mentioning my new Internet Safety blog on your site!
I've had many readers from your site visit today!!! Ye haw!! THANKS!
I agree with a commenter--many Internet Safety sites are outdated, however, mine is updated constantly--and I mean constantly!(in other words, I have NO life!!)
Besides Internet Safety being a huge part of my job, it is truely a passion of mine and has been for the past two years.
I hope this site will be different, totally interactive, constantly updated, and a fantastic resource for parents and educators.
Several "large" online safety organizations have already linked my site to theirs. How cool is that??
Thank you again for mentioning me in your wonderful blog!
Let's all work together to keep our children safer online!
