Home decorating for real people: HomeAndTell

HomeAndTellChristine, co-founder of HomeAndTell, wrote to me in response to Megan's and Leah's wonderful habitat hacks. I like the site because it extends the same "real world" approach we celebrate on Parent Hacks to home decorating. Who hasn't flipped through a home design magazine or a Pottery Barn Kids catalog and walked away feeling like a loser?

I wanted to let you know about a website that my husband, Jay,  and I recently launched called HomeAndTell.  I thought you might find it especially interesting because of your recent posts Fashion a no-build "closet" out of a curtain rod and a bookshelf’ and Add a homemade "alarm" to your bedroom door.

HomeAndTell is a community website where you can post pictures of your home and anything you love about it. This can be a renovation like a baby room or furniture that you built for it, unique ideas you may have to save space or keep your children safe, or even a before and after de-cluttering of a messy playroom.  You can connect with other members by leaving ratings and comments on homes and projects posted by others, discussing home-related topics in the boards, and even submitting your own articles to the library.  We hope that our members will be able to use the site as a place to find home decorating ideas instead of always turning to "experts." We believe that style and inspiration for home project/decorating ideas can come from everyday people, not just traditional magazines.

i love seeing other people's homes

I love seeing others people's homes too! When I walk by a house with an open door, I can't help but look inside. Is anyone else out there like me?

This is a great idea!
