Fashion a no-build closet out of a curtain rod and a bookshelf

Amazon: Tension curtain rod Megan's brilliant space-saving clothing storage hack, which I may put to use in my daughter's room:

My bedroom serves as the nursery and is also quite low on dresser space. I use a bookshelf with one of the shelves removed and a tension bar installed to hang up my little guy's clothes.  As he grows, I can just remove another shelf or two to handle his bigger clothes.  I use the remaining shelves for necessities like extra wipes, receiving blankets, books, and toys.

Great for organizing the dress-up clothes and for dolly outfits as well.

How cute! I am going to use this idea for making a little dress-up corner for my daycare tots. The "fancy" shoes and hats can sit on the shelves, and I will hang a mirror on the wall nearby so they can admire themselves!

Hi,
It sounds so good about organising. I feel my sons toys and his clothes are out to get me. I never am able to manage it. The room looks ransacked everytime I enter it. Can anyone help me organise my 3 year olds room.

I love this idea! The closet in my daughters room is small and awkward and I've been trying to figure out a way to add more space to hang clothes. Thanks!

LOVE the added idea to use for doll clothes. our little one has acquired an American Girl doll with a bunch of "stuff" to go with it. This will be a great help so she can see what she has, without the stuff being all over the floor, or crammed in a bin. Thanks!!! MKZ

I had a similar idea. I used two bungee cords to hang a $2 dowel rod from the existing closet rod, in turn doubling the amount of hanging space in her closet and it's a lot cheaper than most of the closet organizers you can buy. Also great because as she grew I just attached longer cords to accomodate her longer dresses.
