How to organize your rewards cards

LifeClever posted a handy suggestion for streamlining your wallet -- with a hole punch and a carabiner key chain. Finally, a way to deal with all of those rewards cards, frequent buyer cards, "buy 50 get one free" cards, and everything else in there!

Carabiners are an indispensable part of any Parenthacker's arsenal. See: Keychain hacks and More uses for the carabiner.

I do this but with a regular circular keychain. it isn't so bulky in my already overstuffed purse. My keys I keep on a carabiner that I can clip to my jeans belt loop. When marathon shopping, I clip the reward card ring back on the key carabiner for easy access. Just be careful not to punch gift cards, or anything that might have storable info that you might ruin. I learned this the hard way by punching out the "wrong" part of a computerized transit card... my bad!

I have something better...create one piece of paper with all your store barcodes on it. It makes a huge difference...I saw it on http://www.lifehacker.com a while ago.

For years I have used a coupon-type organizer for these cards. I use one slot for rewards cards, one for punch cards, one for gift cards and store credits, one for store coupons (not grocery coupons, there are too many). and one for membership cards (library, video, etc.). Then I throw the whole thing in my glove box because my car is always where I am. When I need it I grab it. This lets me do spur-of-the-moment things if I find myself in the neighborhood with a few moments to spare. If for some reason I am in someone else's car, and I know I'll need that stuff, I just grab the organizer before I leave. It is small enough to easily slip in my diaper bag or purse.
