Meet the Parenthackers: Amie

Vegas, baby! No, really. Amie lives in Las Vegas, NV, and just had a baby! Congratulations, Amie!

For as long as I can remember, Amie has been a constant, friendly source of enthusiasm. She’s been submitting hacks from the beginning (Make your own diaper caddy). She recently prompted a great discussion about pre-baby prep, and has just submitted a New Year’s Eve hack despite having a week-old baby at home. Amie also came up with the smart idea to tag all Parent Hacks-related Flickr photos as “parenthacks” so we can easily browse them.

Our son is 2 years and our new daughter is 6 days old. At the time Parent Hacks was started, our two nephews had been living with us for 2 years. They were 4 and 7 and were the inspiration for many of our own personal hacks. They have since been happily reunited with their father.

One-line parenting motto?
Expect the unexpected!

Favorite hack?
Wow, that is a hard one. There have been so many great hacks. My favorite posts are those that generate the most comments and discussion because of all the other great ideas that come up. If you really forced me to choose, the recent “talk amongst yourselves” about laundry basket brands that branched out into general laundry techniques was great. I thought I had my routine down, but I definitely picked up some new ideas.
