Wading pool keeps "scissor practice" paper scraps contained

So simple, so smart, from Jill:

The toddler (2's) teacher at my son's PMO (Parent's morning out) has a wading pool in the classroom filled with old magazines and catalogs.  What's it for?  Scissors practice!  Sit and Chop is one of the "centers" the children can choose at playtime.  I love it!

What a great idea. Especially for a rainy day!

Play-doh also works great for scissor practice.

We used to have a "cutting box." It was an old shoebox with a pair of kid-safe scissors tied to it. Junkmail, old cards, scraps or wrapping paper, bits of ribbon, etc. went into the box. Then they cut over the box and that contained the mess.
