Gmap Pedometer calculates the distance of your strolls
Rookie Mom Heather found this juicy morsel: Gmap Pedometer. Apparently it's a tool for runners to measure the length of their routes, but Heather used it to figure out the walking distance to a friend's house. Sure, a regular, old pedometer would have done the trick, but this is pretty cool, no?

I love this hack and have been using it for months now. It is better than a pedometer because it is one less gadget I have to deal with. It's also great for planning walks, when I use increased distances as an exercise program.

I use Wayfaring.com for this, and have one map with a whole collection of my routes on it. It's a nice reminder of how often I manage to get out and run, and it makes it easy to compare different routings.
