Parent Hacks admin: More posts per day

In an attempt to make faster progress through my queue of hacks you've submitted, I'm experimenting with increasing my posting frequency. My intention is to keep the frequency low enough that no one (including me) gets overwhelmed, but high enough that you don't have to wait so long to see your hack published. I'd love to hear your thoughts, if any.

Your comments

If you post more, I'll visit more. Right now, I stop in two or three times a day.

More worked for Arrington, and more will work for you. I'm excited by the chance to hear even more great hacks.

Hey, that Leapster L-Max thing in the sidebar? My daughter tried one ONCE at a friend's house, and now it's the most sought-after thing in a while. I thought it was kind of neat.

Sorry, I was distracted by the great and pertinent ads. : )

As an RSS subscriber, I will sometimes go a couple of days without seeing posts from you (hectic work and travel schedule) and then, when I log in, I'll get a slough of new headlines to read. But I DO read them all.

I would say to find a pace what's comfortable for you. Many CMS will allow you to post date a post for future publication, which you might find useful. This way, if you find yourself with enough time to write up a dozen or so hacks, rather than flooding the site, just post date them for spaced publication.

Either way, I am enjoying the hell out of the site as I prepare for the birth of our first little one (Oct. 11th), and since I hope that I can add to the hack list sometime in the future, please, just keep posting.

I'll be the jerk, and say that I'd like to see fewer hacks that aren't Parent hacks. Recent examples: Gmail as recipe organizer, A fullproof system for dealing with paper clutter, TiVo price slashed at Amazon, Baking soda as bathroom cleaner, ...
That would free up enough space to post more hacks specific to parenting.

What about adding a more open message board that doesn't necessarily mean more hacks, but it might give people a broader place to share and communicate in addition to the hacks and comments.

Thanks for your comments. Chris, I have been toying with the idea of a message board for a while now -- it seems a natural outgrowth of this blog. I've looked into several ways to do this, but from what I can tell, for it to look and work the way I want, it would require some serious backend work on my part. Frankly, till both my kids are in school more often, I don't have the time to work it out. It's definitely on my mental list, though. If anyone has suggestions about how to implement a message board, or other ideas along these lines, I'm always happy to hear them.

If you'd like to contact me offline (well, online, but directly via email) I'd be happy to see what help I could be (yes, that's me volunteering).
