Forget that--a quick sniff of the business end will tell you all you need to know.

This is from a hilarious book put out by Wry Baby (http://www.wrybaby.com/)
They have a great collection of books, clothes, and other baby accessories. All with a wonderful sense of humor.

sorry, my last post got the closing parentheses in the URL.

Wrybaby even have the warning printed right on the source. Check out the nifty diaper cover:

Sometimes, you don't even need to be close to know something's gone on down under.

Hey, the sniff test is very INACCURATE since babies tend to rip out farts on a regular basis and their farts are indistinguishable from the 'real thing' if you know what I mean...

I got grossed out watching someone really do the "jam the fingers in the diaper" thing. Changing your own kids diaper is definitely easier to do than another childs diaper. Anyone ever notice that?

MacLifer: Totally. MY kid's poop smells like roses (okay, stinky roses, but still) but OTHER kids' poops are like nuclear waste.

Thanks for the laugh! I needed that today.

I checked my kids cloth diapers by pulling back on the waistband of their rubber pants. I never ever felt that there was ever a need to insert my hand right down inside anyone's diapers and rubber pants to check for a wet or dirty diaper.

One can determine if a baby's nappy is soiled if it looks heavy and the side seams look discolored. It also help if the diaper has a pee indicator. I have a toddler and he informs me whenever he has a bowel movement or has wet his diaper and needs to be changed. I always thank my baby for his effort in informing me and his conscious effort of keeping himself dry and clean.
