Not to burst your bubble... but balloons are less than ideal toys when it comes to safety. They are deadly choking hazards because once swallowed, the latex sticks to the throat and can not be coughed up. Most childcare centers do not even allow balloons on the premises for this reasons. Tots love to bite into the colorful, smooth little orbs and then pop and the little one gives a gasp of surprise and down the throat it goes. Of course a careful and watchful parent can use balloons safely, but they deserve a serious and long winded BEWARE!
