'Fast Food Nation' author comes out with new book for kids

You're convinced about the deleterious effects of fast food. But what about your kids?

Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation, has just come out with a new book aimed at 9- to 15-year olds. Chew On This: Everything You Don't Want to Know About Fast Food takes on the fast food and soda industries, the realities of meat production, junk food additives, and the sorry treatment of fast food restaurant employees. Kids get an inside look at the history of the fast food industry, and enough information to start making wiser choices about the food they eat.

I was just listening to an interview with the co-author of this book just before I saw this post. I read Fast Food Nation, and this book sounds like it will be just as good as the author's first one.

It's hard to resist the fast food industry, but it's good that there writers and filmmakers out there exposing some much needed truths. Now if I can just better organize the eating habits of myself and my family, I could resist eating fast food even more.

BTW, the interview revealed that both of the authors are being seriously attacked by many companies in the fast food industry. They are trying to discredit the author, the book, and the film that is due to come out based on the book. It's not surprising that they would be getting attacked for there's a lot of money tied up in the industry.

Also, nice blog you have here.. I just started subscribing to last week. I like the idea of "parent hacks." I need all the tricks and tips I can get to raise my two wild ones.
