Cut your own art mats

Photomat
Make: put me onto this lovely tutorial at The Small Object: how to cut your own art mats. If you're like me, you've got a stack of photos and kid art to frame, and no budget to do it (I still don't get why professional framing is so expensive). With a relatively small investment in tools and materials and an eye for precision, you can mat your own artwork cheaply and beautifully.

While you're there, be sure to check out Sarah's oh-so-sweet handmade stationery, art, and albums.

Thank you so much for this post!! I had gone to the framing shop the other day and they estimated my job at 220.00. I smiled, thanked them, said I would think about it and left. All I had was two photos and a medal that I wanted in a shadowbox type frame. ALl plain, cheap frame.. but still... Now I can do it on my own!

Thank you!
