Build your own clock
From Sara:
This build-your-own clock is getting a lot of positive comments on one of my local mom's lists. Seems like the sort of thing parenthackers would like. For ages 6 and up.

I put it together with my 3-1/2 year old (I know, I'm pushing him to me mechanically apt, so sue me...) and it was a big hit. He can now say "escapement". The clock can be assembled and disassembled many times.
The only flaws are that there is no "troubleshooting" section of the instructions, so it behooves you to be familiar with basic clock mechanics in order to get things adjusted.
The other flaw is that the instructions are somewhat poorly printed and it isn't clear all the time how parts are oriented.
Again, basic clock knowledge will help...and general logic.
But it is a fun kit and a great value.

I notice the one pictured is different that the one we built. Ours was made by Schylling.
