What we're listening to

ItunesWe spend a lot of time listening to music and recorded storytelling. My kids love music, possibly as much as they love TV and movies. We listen to all kinds -- popular stuff, 80's nostalgia rock, classical (which our girly daughter calls "ballet music"), Celtic, bhangra dance mixes, movie soundtracks, and, of course, a healthy serving of kid music. We have an iBook in the kitchen hooked up to a pair of Altec Lansing speakers, and iTunes is always running. Our collection of MP3 music is expanding every week.

In the sidebar, you'll find a link to "What We're Listening To." It may be a favorite album, or an iTunes iMix, or an audiobook we dig. I'll change it every week or so. Just for fun, for your listening pleasure.

If you don't already have iTunes, you can download it -- free -- from Apple (Mac or PC). When I can, I'll link to both the iTunes version and the CD version of an album. Enjoy!

Fun! We also listen to a ton of music, and I love making seasonal/mood mixes. I even have a mix specially made for cleaning the house.

I know you are an XM radio family - do you find a lot of your kids music that way? We made a mix for my daughter and her friends that was comprised almost solely of music we discovered on XM Kids.

We do find a lot on XM Kids! In fact, I'm working on an iMix full of the funniest kids songs I know of -- several of which I've discovered there.

We'll have to trade songlists. I bet there are quite a few repeats!

We are an XM family. My vehicle has XM radio, so, unless I whip out the iPod, it is all XM, all the time. The only time I listen to local radio is Sunday at 12 noon, when Splendid Table [Read More]
