Parent Hacks admin: Feed scraping the sincerest form of flattery?

Thanks to the wonders of Feedburner, I just discovered a site that was using my RSS feed to pass off Parent Hacks content as its own in an attempt to collect Google ad revenue. (You know who you are, @#$%.) So, I've added a little doohicky to the bottom of all Parent Hacks feed items gently reminding pirates (and readers of pirates' sites) where the content originated.

Welcome to the world of Internet publishing. I've dealt with the same thing for years with my website FamilyResource.com. That's one of the main reasons why I don't do full source feeds for my articles and blog entries.

Thanks, Christy. I hesitate to post the address for fear of sending them more traffic, but if you email me at hacks@parenthacks.com I'll give you the info and you can send a quick email to adsense-abuse@google.com asking Google to kick their butts out of the AdSense program.

If Jon's comment is any indication, this is probably the first of many sites like this. Oy.

No matter. Full feeds make it easier for the good, honest, 99.9%.

Parent Hacks Editor makes a great point in her last line. I agree, we, as an Internet community, should focus on the good, honest 99.9% This attitude of Asha's keeps me coming back, and keeps me promoting her site. There may be a heart of darkness in some men, but lights like Asha's will keep that darkness at bay.

UPDATE: The forces of good have prevailed! After faxing a formal notice of copyright violation to Google AdSense, I heard from the site author (like, within hours). "All an unfortunate misunderstanding," of course, and my feed has since been removed from the site.
