Free iPod-ready stories for kids

A while back we talked about some excellent storytelling available on CD. Momofboys pointed out two sites that offer freely-downloadable MP3 stories for your iPod, and we've uncovered a couple more. Here they all are:

Storynory
Free childrens' stories via the Storynory site or through iTunes. Reader favorites tend toward the classics (Three Little Pigs, Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood) but also include lesser-known tales such as the Japanese story The Cat's Elopement.

Light Up Your Brain
Classics by Rudyard Kipling ("How the Leopard Got His Spots"), Hans Christian Andersen ("The Little Mermaid"), Beatrix Potter ("The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies") and more.

Kiddie Records Weekly
Highlighting the stories and album art of the 40s and 50s.

RobertMunsch.com
Robert Munsch, author of Love You Forever and many more stories, makes audio versions of his books available on his site.

has just launched their new "kidsspace" site, which includes downloadable stories to listen to, more to be added later. Also the fun "storybuilder" software that allows kids to create a multipage story and email it.
