Simple time management tips

From "Simple Ways to Save Hours of Your Time" at MSN:

To get your kids to help keep the house neat, [author Laura] Stack suggests a system she calls Jail n' Bail. "If they don't put their stuff away, it goes in the jail box, and they have to pay five cents to bail it out."

I think this is a great idea, except, where do they get 5 cents?

Instead, make them trade another toy or object to get it out. If any object stays in jail for 30 days, then it goes to goodwill.

I combine it with a behavior "heart chart". Five good actions earns a toy back. If nothing is in time out (toys are taken for poor behavior as well) then he earns a treat. We draw hearts on our little fridge chart whenever he's nice to his brother (or does other things he's learned will make Mama happy!)
