Stories on CD

This from veteran traveler-with-kid Tiffany:

For long car trips, stories on CD (or tape) can be a lifesaver.  One of the best children's storytellers is Jim Weiss (www.greathall.com). He expertly adapts stories for children, keeping the excitement high and the conflict appropriate for young ears. His one-hour CDs are either a collection of stories or chapters of a longer story. His sources are classic fairytales, religion, history, mythology and literature. A few titles: Fairytale Favorites, Tales from the Old Testament, Galileo and the Stargazers, Jewish Holiday Stories, Arabian Nights and Greek Myths.  Another tip—you can find many of Weiss's CDs at the library.

and LOTS of stories on cassette or CD are available at your local library - some even come as a kit with a picture book so the kids can look at the pictures while listening.

We found some other websites where you can download stories for free (legally). They look (and sound) like a real "keeper". We've already burned a couple of CD's of the stories. We had to look around for the links for awhile- let us know if anyone knows of any others!
Here are the two we found:
