Homework first thing in the morning

Jill in Grand Rapids, MI has a suggestion regarding the evening homework time crunch:

For parents who work full time, one gem of scheduling genius we found has been to have our second grader do some of her homework in the morning before school, at the sitter's house. We drop her off an hour before school starts, and it's the perfect time for her to focus on reading and easier math worksheets. It's quiet, she's still mentally fresh and it's easier for her to concentrate. And it gives us more time to enjoy with each other in the evening, when chaos rules, or if we need to spend more time focusing on a certain subject.

Just discovered parent hacks a couple days ago. Definitely enjoying it. This is a great tip for sure. It will probably work great with my middle and youngest, who are both early risers. It will never work with my oldest (also in 2nd grade) as we have to drag her from the bed every morning. She inherited her father's night owl tendencies.

i'm 17, and i've just graduated from high school, and i've been waking up early to do my homework in the morning since grade 9. although lately this means getting up at 5am, it's still the best way for me to make sure that i get my stuff done efficiently. as long as i remember to get to bed a little earlier, too.
